You get more than enough back acoustically to get a great reference but not too much to bleed into the vocal. Perfect guitar for someone who sings looking to use certain mics that would not be appropriate with other acoustics.
If you record with it, you'll definitely want to mic it.
Ideal "New York apartment" guitar-plenty loud enough to enjoy acoustically without waking anyone up. Only then do you get the logic behind combining a P-90 with a Humbucker, with the chime and edge of one and the fullness and bright warmth of the other-killer. What's especially well designed about these is how they work in conjunction-this is the one guitar I've owned since I had a 1965 ES-330 that sounded terrific in the middle setting (both pups activated). Real interesting pup combination: designed by Monty's (U.K.), the '54 P-90 in the neck position and the PAF humbucker in the tail, if bought directly from Monty's, would cost you about $300 on their own. Think about it-Gibson isn't doing anything close to that with their hollowbodies.Īlso: Hooked up to a ToneRite for 100+ hours, so you know it'll sound way better than any other example of this model. For example: Spruce top with scallopped braces. Les Paul small, but a (mostly) hollowbody, it's light, really comfortable, has a terrific neck and is extremely well designed. The fact is, I just don't need an electric right now as much as I need to hold onto some of the acoustics I've got left.Īnd what a guitar there's really nothing like it-ever. There's no way I can get anything close to what I paid for it ($1,100+ at that time, listed for $1699, and this is definitely closer to a $1000 guitar than a $600 one), but I need money and can't hold onto something this great which someone else could get more out of.
